Masses in which the Choir/Schola Participates
The Latin Choir/schola sings at the 9 AM Extaordinary Form of the Roman Rite/Tridentine/Mass in Latin- in the chapel in the Parish Center every 1st, 2nd and 4th Sunday for the entire year. The Schola does NOT sing on third Sunday of each month.
Rehearsals are every 2nd and 4th Saturday at 4 PM From September-June.
During July and August the Latin choir/schola continues to sing "High" Masses/Missa cantatas,
but there are no rehearsals during July and August.
NEW MEMBERS ARE PARTICULARLY NEEDED FOR THIS MINISTRY.
All are invited to join, ages high school and up!
The schola learns the propers for each Sunday/Feast in Gregorian Chant (Introit, etc), as well as selected 4-part Choral pieces in Latin.
All music is sung in the Latin Language.
In addition, those who can, sing at the 10:30 AM Mass on the following Holy Days of Obligation in the main Sanctuary:
1. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8th);
2. Mary, Mother of God (January 1st)
3. Ascension Thursday
4. Feast of All Saints (November 1st)
Note on Holy Days of Obligation:
a. If the date is on Saturday or Monday, there is no obligation for that year, and their will be no Tridentine High mass with music. The exception is the Feast of the Immarculate Conception on Dec. 8th, which is ALWAYS a Holy Day of Obligation, regardless of what day it falls on. Choir sings that day.
b. The schola does NOT sing for the Feast of the Assumption, as it falls during the summer months.
