THOMAS TIRINO

Our Director of Music Ministry comes to us with a vast amount of professional concert and church ministry experience.  An internationally acclaimed artist, Tirino obtained all his musical degrees as a graduate of the famous Juilliard School of Music.  Having studied organ, piano, and voice,  Mr. Tirino has served in the music ministry of the Catholic Church for over 30 years all over the world- Forming, building, and directing music programs of all types that have included Adult Choirs, Children’s choirs, Youth Choirs, and ethnically diverse programs that have included multi-cultural and linguistic programs in Spanish, Italian, French-Creole, Polish and Tagalog-Filipino. He has served as liturgy planner for many of his appointments, and has worked closely with Jamie Cortez, a major catholic music composer.  He has studied Gregorian chant extensively and is a specialist in Gregorian Chant as well as Renaissance Polyphonic Music. An organist and choral director of great diversity, Mr. Tirino speaks 9 languages, and has lived in Germany, Switzerland, and Japan at various times.

Professional, Mr. Tirino is an actively sought after concert and performing artist before the musical world.  His music making has been acclaimed in TIME magazine, Full page features in The New York Times and Miami Herald, and in an international press. He has appeared as a recitalist & with orchestras in the major cities of the United States, Europe, Asia, Central America and The Caribbean, performing in Russia at the Bolshoi Philharmonic Halls in Moscow & St. Petersburg;  Toronamon Hall in Tokyo, Japan; Symphony Hall in Boston; Teatro Nacional  in Havana, Cuba; Broward Center for Performing Arts, Fort Lauderdale;  & many times at Lincoln Center in New York City among others.  His numerous performances with orchestras have included The Boston Pops Orchestra, The Polish National Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of Costa Rica, Portland Symphony, & The Symphony of the Americas. Tirino is considered a leading authority and interpreter of the Classical music of Spain and Latin America. He has won many international piano competitions, served as juror in International Piano competitions, and has given master classes and lectures in universities across the globe.  He has appeared numerous times on TV and Radio throughout the world. Tirino has also appeared at many society and Hollywood star gala function, including performances at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremonies where he shared a stage with Tony Bennett, Vic Damone, Judy Collins, & others;; and has performed at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation Award ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  He has 9 highly acclaimed commercially available recordings out to date, many with orchestra; 2 published books, many published musical arrangements and original compositions, and is constantly sought out as an arranger for orchestral and choral music throughout the world.

Thomas Tirino is a Steinway Artist, a member of BMI Composers Organization, and a member of the American Guild of Organists.
